Jojoba’s texture is that of a liquid wax being mainly composed of long-chain wax esters (mainly gadoleic acid). For this reason, it is very similar to the components of human sebum, hence why it’s able to strengthen the skin’s surface and upper layers, and retain moisture through its active ingredients. It can also fight microorganisms that attack our skin, such as Propionibecterum acne, which causes acne. For this reason Jojoba is a well regarded cure for oily, acne-prone skin. Due to its unique fatty acid profile, it decomposes more slowly and has a high degree of stability, which is why it is also suitable as a base oil.
